It has taken us some time to bring together all our ideas and experience transforming them into our new HouseSit Match website. We involved a number of our current members in the testing and reviews of the website functionality. House sitter Debbie Sakal kindly volunteered to review our new housesitting platform in a blog. The New House Sit Match Website

My name is Debbie and I travel and go housesitting with my cat Molly. If you want to find out more about me, check out some of my blog posts listed below.

So welcome to my blog all about my first impressions of the new House Sit Match website, launching on 3rd March 2025. I had volunteered to test the various functions as the team were building the new platform. Then they asked if I would share my first impressions with their blog readers. So consider this a sneak preview!

What is HouseSit Match

As you may already know, HouseSit Match is a housesitting platform for both house sitters looking for housesitting assignments, and homeowners who need house sitters to care for their pets and homes whilst they are away. It provides a service which matches house sitters to a homeowner’s specific requirements.

Hence the name “HouseSit Match”. It does what it says on the tin!

A Family-owned Business with a Community Feeling

HouseSit Match is still a family-owned and run business, offering a comprehensive and full service, matching house sitters and homeowners. Whilst they have held prices since 2019, they are now moving to the next stage of growth, by offering Members even more features and benefits with their Memberships at slightly increased prices to reflect the value of the new features.

The New HouseSit Match Website Features

The Housesitting process

Before I review the various new features on the new HouseSit Match website, lets remind ourselves of how this house sitting process works. It’s collaborative and personal.

As soon as you have joined the HouseSit Match community by paying the modest annual fee, you will be ID and security checked. This process is intact, with a streamlined ID checking made even simpler.
House sitters will build their personal profiles and apply directly for housesits.
Homeowners will create their house sit advertisements on the website. Once the profile is up the homeowner now only has to post new dates, all other information is carried over – so simple!
When potential house sitter apply to the sits advertised on the site, homeowners choose how to respond. They either ask to meet for an interview, accept directly or politely decline. This will all managed from the new INBOX.
The homeowner will then offer the sit to their chosen applicant, and once this is accepted and confirmed by both parties on the website, the house sit is locked in.
An automated House Sitter Agreement is then created and is available to all parties to view online or to print if that is your preference.
At the end of the house sit, both the house sitter and homeowner will submit a review on the website. This helps both the house sitter and homeowner with future bookings.
NOTE – Neither review is published until both have written and sent in their review. I think that is fair for all parties.

Features of the New HouseSit Match Website and How You Benefit

So, what’s in it for you, with the launch of the new HouseSit Match website? Actually there are many new features and benefits, which I review here below:

A New Combined Account

In response to increasing demand from Members there is a new combined account, where you can be registered as both a house sitter and a homeowner. Most importantly, you manage both types of activities from one dashboard, using one email address and paying one annual fee. With this account, you can easily and quickly switch or toggle between your house sitter profile and your homeowner one.
Homeowners can Post an Unlimited Number of Housesit Adverts

All Homeowner Members are able to place as many house sit ads at the same time, in one session. For example, you can post ads for the whole year in advance. Very handy for homeowners who are able to plan in advance.
No Maximum Limit to Applications for a Housesit Advert

For homeowners, there is no maximum limit to the number of applications they can view for a housesitting advert. All applications will be seen by the homeowner, unlike some other house sitting websites. As a regular housesitter I really value this feature. It means that no matter how popular the housesit there is an equal chance for my housesit application to be seen by the owner rather than an algorithm stopping my application because I tripped an artificial maximum threshold. The new HouseSit Match website is fairer!
Free Website Video Calls Directly from the Inbox

All Members have access to the new free video meeting system. This enables easy to schedule and execute video meetings between homeowners and house sitters.

With the new video calling system, you don’t have to leave the com website to have your video calls, saving you time and effort, negating the need to click out and sign in to an account somewhere else on the internet.

Free 24/7 Vet Hotline

Choice and Premium Members, both homeowners and house sitters will enjoy access to support and pet care advice from fully qualified Vets 24/7, via phone and video. Get advice from experienced Vets just when you need it.

From a housesitter perspective this is super handy and gives me the support I need. And from a homeowner’s perspective, this gives peace of mind, knowing they can be away from their pets knowing that house sitters have professional back up should the unexpected happen.

No Hassle Automated HouseSit Agreements

Once a homeowner and house sitter are matched, the back end system in the new HouseSit Match website automatically produces a digital House Sit Agreement, which includes all the relevant house sit details that have been agreed between you. It can even be printed if required. For example, the housesit dates, any pet information, emergency contacts and so on. All the important and pertinent information, is presented in one convenient place. And it is automatically emailed to all parties.

It’s important to note that this agreement isn’t binding, until both parties are happy with the details, and have signed it.

Trip Cancellation Support

Sometimes the unexpected happens, where for example either a homeowner has to cancel their trip near to the house sit start date for an unexpected reason, or perhaps a house sitter is unable to attend for health reasons. If expenses have already been expended and you have a Choice or Premium account you may qualify for some support recompense to help you recover from this situation.

In these instances, for Choice and Premium Members, HouseSit Match are introducing a Policy which offers support if your situation meets the criteria. There is further information about this on the website, should you require it.
Ongoing Support

HouseSit Match have always presented a professional and friendly customer service, certainly in my experience. Even though they have upgraded and automated much of the website, offering many exciting and convenient seamless systems, the support team is still there for you should you need them, via online chat or phone. In fact, by saving time on these automated systems, there will be more time to devote to members!
