This was a very special way to spend Christmas - my daughter, her boyfriend and myself. Our hosts left us a box of Christmas decorations to create a festive vibe, a huge and delicious Christmas cake to tuck into, and a bottle of wine. We had 17 days to enjoy the house and the village, and were reluctant to leave. Watching Midsomer Murder mysteries by a log fire in a village where much of the filming took place was super-special. And then the leading star.... Daisy. She was an easy, accommodating old lady dog who liked to be where there were people. Ann and Peter went to great lengths to make sure we had what we needed and knew how everything worked. We felt totally at home. Despite the fact they were on holiday, they checked in with us regularly to make sure everyone and everything was okay. Altogether an enriching and memorable experience.

We had a wonderful stay in Ann & Peters home. We stayed here for two wonderful weeks with Daisy. Very friendly and informative when we first arrived, from picking us up from the train station to offering us local maps and walking routes to take Daisy on as well as a tour of the house and all the important bits and pieces to know. We took a few trips into Oxford and the local villages when the weather was nice as it’s very easy to navigate. Daisy isn’t really fussy at all - a few walks a day & some cuddles and she was set. Highly recommend for some TLC in the countryside!

I spent a really pleasant Christmas at Anne and Peter’s house, impressively old in parts, picturesque and comfortable. And so well organized, it took almost no looking after. The pet – Daisy – was equally accommodating. She appreciated a couple of walks per day, more if possible, any length. A handful of biscuits twice a day, water and back-stroking. That’s all. Behaved well on the local buses and, generally, was an ideal companion. For any time of year. Anne and Peter were well prepared, with all the crucial instructions supplied in advance to cater for any questions needing an early resolution. On the day, printed them off, gave me a tour of the house including a lovely bedroom (in the old part) designated mine for the stay, then waved goodbye. Also invited me to share their Christmas cake. A lovely alternative to none. While they were holidaying we kept in touch by text and email, regularly but not so frequently as to overshadow our respective activities: mine resting and theirs exploring southern Spain. Heartily recommended.
