We are looking for someone to housesit and care for our animal family when we would like a break away to catch up with our family or go on holiday. We have been married for 50 years and retired to France 7 years ago after holidaying in France for over 35 years with our now grown-up family, who all live close to each other in Cornwall. They, and our 10 grandchildren love coming to visit here in the mid-west area of rural France, 3 hours drive in from La Rochelle and 5 hours down from the port of Caen, in a small hamlet near the town of Montmorillon. We live in the right-hand house of a terrace of three at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, which has 3 bedrooms with electric radiators, one with en-suite and a separate shower room, a kitchen diner and cosy lounge with woodburner. Our large garden, provides different seating areas with pretty flowers and shrubs through the long hot summers, and a recreational​/​social area with small summer house, equipped outdoor kitchen spa and large above ground pool. There are a couple of very local bar​/​restaurants, supermarkets 15 minutes in each direction and some lovely country walks around our vicinity. Further afield there are the cities of Limoges to the south or Poitiers to the north, some other lovely towns or villages to explore as well as several beautiful lake-land areas with beaches and activities to enjoy in the summer season. Our animal family consists of a 5 month old collie crossed beauceron (french sheep dog), born in December 24, called Bosun. He is very friendly, good on the lead, loves other dogs and is treat driven making him easy to train and be diverted from mischief. As young, he can be excitable at times, but never aggressive. We have 3 rescue cats, tabby Tommy-girl is 5, we found her co-habiting with our chickens at only a few weeks old, having strayed from her mum. She still lives up in the chicken house by choice, but also loves to be in the warm house in the winter. Not aggressive, but likes to be stroked on her terms. The twins were found abandoned by their mum at a few weeks old in a farmers barn. Barney and Betty are black and white, very pretty, very affectionate and definitely love their creature comforts as well as exploring in the garden and neighbouring fields. Lastly our 4 chickens give tasty eggs and are free-range in our pretty back garden where there is also the coop and storage outbuilding, leaving the large side garden to Bosun and the cats....and us of-course !! We have a brilliant vet in Le Dorat, 15 minutes away, always contactable. We also have wonderful neighbours in our mainly French friendly hamlet, there are also two English​/​Scottish speaking neighbours who would be glad to offer information or help if required​/​needed
