Hello, I'm Peter Chalfont.
We are Gillian and Kevan and we live with our twin westies, lots of Koi in the Chalfonts. The local village, which is a short walk, downhill, has plenty of shops including a fabulous deli, a M&S, a fish van visits on a Tuesday morning, various places to eat and we even have a tattoo parlour! Nearby is a large common (Gold Hill) popular with dog walkers, along with a coffee shop and also the closest pub/restaurant which allows dogs in the bar area. We are a seven-minute drive or 40-minute walk from a fast mainline station into central London, the journey is about 40 minutes. Here you will find a small town that has all that you would expect including two large supermarkets, an Everyman cinema and excellent restaurants. Our home and surroundings We live on a small country lane and are surrounded by woodland and fields with a friendly neighbour on one side. We have direct access from our back garden into woodland, which is frequented by local dogwalkers, or you can just cross the lane and explore our own private woodlands and fields. During April and May, you will see the bluebells in their full glory and in June our wildflower meadow is in full bloom. There is a large garden at the rear of the property that is completely secure for the dogs and has a koi pond and natural swimming pool, we also have an outdoor eating area for sunny days. The three guest rooms are all doubles with two en-suite and there is also a family bathroom. We have a large kitchen with a breakfast bar, dining table and sofa. During October-April we typically use the Everhot (like an AGA) and for the rest of the year there is an induction hob and oven. There is a separate dining room and a large sitting room with open wood fire, TV and bar. We also have two rooms we use to work in that are Zoom friendly with desks etc. If at the end of the day the dogs haven’t worn you out, then you can make use of our small gym and sauna and then chill out to watch a film in the cinema room. Our WIFI speed is between 45-90 download and 14-30 download depending on where you are in the house. We have cleaners who visit weekly and a gardener as well. Our animals Our twins, one boy and one girl are four years old. The boy is very gentle and will bring you a present pretty much every time you appear, although he will require the toy back. Our girl is the more nervous of the two and takes a while to get to know people, she really loves a cuddle. They are very close and play together a lot; racing each other to catch any squirrels that dare to visit the garden. We have a large collection of Koi carp, which depending on the time of year may need feeding. About us Kevan is semi-retired from being a Partner in one of the big strategic consulting firms where he focused on leadership and cultural challenges within large corporates. He now advises his clients as an independent advisor on a part-time basis. He is a keen runner, competing in ultra-marathons whenever he can – over 45 to date. There is plenty that also keeps him busy around the property working with Gillian and is passionate about his Koi. To ensure he keeps busy he has also started to learn the piano. Gillian runs her business from home – which in essence is the home. She rents out the garden and land to photographers and video producers. She is head gardener, spending many hours pruning, sweeping and planting. You can see her Instagram account at Chalfonts Captured or visit her website www.chalfontscaptured.co.uk where there is a video showing you all the grounds. To keep her sane, she practises yoga, swims in the pond and loves to paint. Her studio is available to use for like-minded creative types!
