HOUSE-SIT We have a detached 1920s house with a large garden a few minutes walk from the beach. It is on a bus route and within walking distance of the local shops in Freshwater. There is a large comfortable bedroom with king-size bed​,​ and a separate bathroom for our sitters. In season there are popular beach bars and restaurants very nearby at Colwell Bay and Totland Bay​,​ and all year round there is a choice of good pubs and restaurants within a couple of miles radius. There might be light gardening to do - watering the greenhouse​/​veg plots for example. PETS We have a 14 year old Patterdale Terrier 'Maisie' who thinks she is still a puppy. She absolutely must be kept on a lead when walked; this is very important because she is poor with recall and we can lose her for days if she escapes. She is a delightful house dog and loves people but isn't good with other animals. She enjoys time outside in our garden which is very secure. LOCATION Our house is on the western side of the Isle of Wight very close to the coast: sandy Colwell Bay is about 5 minutes walk. The village of Freshwater is under a mile away and has two supermarkets​,​ plus a very good independent butcher​,​ baker and fishmonger​,​ a library and a sports centre. Yarmouth​,​ with ferry to Lymington​,​ is about two miles away. The bus stops nearby. There are numerous fabulous scenic walks in the vicinity. Our house is actually on the coastal path that goes right round the island (about 75 miles!). The island is well known as an excellent location for cycling​,​ and of course it is also famous for sailing and water based activities of all sorts. In 2021 a paddle board rental business started up at the beach and we expect them to be there again this year. TRIPS We plan to have some trips away in the UK​/​Ireland in our camper van. We are flexible on dates but hope to have about 2-3 weeks at a time.
