Our house is in a small hamlet 15 minutes from the town of Saint Nicolas du Pelem in Brittany. It is a beautiful part of Northern France, blessed with lakes, woodland, many heritage sites and stunning coastlines to discover. There are markets on Tuesdays at Rostrenen (20 minutes drive) and Fridays at Guingamp (30 minutes). Saint Nicolas has a supermarket, petrol station, pharmacy, doctor and bank with ATM. There is also a boulangerie and an epicerie.
Our house is a converted dairy set in three acres of garden, orchard and wild land. The old farmhouse is three storeys with the guest bedroom on the second floor and the guest bathroom on the first floor. There is underfloor heating throughout the house plus log burners in the lounge and kitchen / diner. There are outside seating and dining areas.
There is a small road to the house which peters out to a farm track as it gets to us so the only passing traffic is the odd tractor and occasionally horses. The dog walking is directly from the house, we are surrounded by forest and farmland and our garden leads straight on to a forest path bordered by the stream which runs through the garden.
