Before retirement we were owner farmers....450 Acres intensive farming with 1500 Sheep, plus after lambing 2200 lambs. 30 Beef Cattle and their offspring. During our last 8 years of farming we hosted Farmstay Guests from many countries. They stayed in our home with us. Afternoon tea on arrival, 2 hour farm tour, 3 course dinner, breakfast the following day and I then returned them to continue their bus tour. Experience with animals - Sheep, cattle, pigs for bacon and pork, farm dogs and puppies, hens, cats. rabbits, usually the wild kind that we captured as tiny babies. Feeding with an eye dropper was a great activity with grand children in school holidays. (I must try to find a photo of tiny bunnies on the kitchen table) As farmers we did most maintenance and repairs. We grow our own vegetables.
